Terms of service

Last updated: 20 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use Diava, a service of Mr Computer EdTech Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17047745), whose registered office is at 123 Rawnsley House, Goodhind Street, Bristol BS5 0UQ, United Kingdom. By creating an account or an order you agree to them.

2. What Diava is

Diava is an automated translation tool for documents. It produces a translation in the same layout as your original. It is not a certified, sworn or notarised translation, and we do not give immigration or legal advice. Professional translators on our translator plan (section 9) may issue translations under their own name; when they certify a translation, the translator certifies it, not Diava.

3. Your responsibilities

  • You check every translation before you use it, yourself or with someone you trust who knows both languages, and you correct anything that is wrong.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure the translation meets the requirements of the organisation you send it to.
  • You only upload genuine documents that you have the right to use. We will report suspected forgery or fraud to the relevant authorities.
  • You keep your sign-in details safe.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are shown on the website and in your basket before you pay, including any discount. Your whole order is priced on its total number of pages. You pay once, by card or another method offered at checkout, through Stripe. Translation starts only after your payment is confirmed.

Prices are set in pounds sterling. Amounts we show in other currencies are approximate. In many countries the payment page lets you choose to pay in your own currency, at the exchange rate it shows you before you pay; otherwise you pay in pounds and your card provider converts the amount and may charge a fee.

5. Cancellation and refunds

When you pay, you ask us to start straight away. Because the translation is digital content made for you, your 14-day right to cancel ends once the translation has started. If we cannot translate a document, we refund the price of that document automatically. If something else goes wrong, contact us and we will put it right or refund you. This does not affect your statutory rights.

6. Your files

We keep your files only as long as needed and delete them automatically 7 days after delivery. Please download your translations before then. See our privacy policy for details.

7. Our liability

We take care to provide a good service, but automated translation can contain mistakes, which is why you must check it. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as a refused application or travel costs. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.

8. Partner programme

  • Partners apply through the website and we decide whether to approve them.
  • Referral partners earn the commission shown in their dashboard on orders paid with their code or link. Commission becomes payable 14 days after payment, only on the part of an order that was not refunded, and is paid monthly by bank transfer.
  • Trade accounts receive the trade discount shown in their dashboard on orders they place themselves. They do not also earn commission on those orders.
  • Partners must tell their clients that they earn a commission, and must follow the rules of their own regulator. Partners must not describe Diava as certified, sworn or official, or make other misleading claims.
  • We may suspend a partner and withhold commission for fraud, self-referral, spam or misleading promotion.

9. Translator plan

The translator plan is for professional translators and translation companies that we approve. It is a business service: the consumer cancellation rights in section 5 do not apply to it.

  • Credits. One credit pays for one page. You buy credits in packs, paid through Stripe, and they are taken from your balance when you start an order. Credits do not expire while your account is open, cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be transferred. If you have not used any credits from a pack, you can ask us to refund that pack within 14 days of buying it.
  • Free pages. New accounts may receive free trial pages. They have no cash value.
  • Documents that fail. If a document cannot be translated, its credits are returned to your balance automatically.
  • Prices. We may change pack prices. Credits you have already bought keep their value.
  • Your responsibility. Diava gives you a draft. You check every translation against the original, and correct it, before you issue it under your name, logo, signature or certificate. You are responsible to your clients and to any authority for the translations you issue, including any certification, and for telling your clients how you produce your translations where your professional code or contract requires it. You may describe translations you certify yourself as certified, but you must not say that Diava certified them.
  • Your logo, signature and details. You confirm you have the right to use what you upload. You allow us to use it only to print it on your own translations. You can change or remove it at any time.
  • Liability. Section 7 applies to the translator plan. Our total liability for an order is limited to the value of the credits used for it.
  • Your clients' documents (data processing terms). When you upload a client's document, you are the controller of the personal data in it and we process that data on your behalf as your processor. These terms are our data processing agreement under Article 28 of the UK GDPR. We will:
    • process the data only to produce your translations and as you instruct through the service, unless the law requires otherwise (in which case we will tell you, if the law allows);
    • make sure everyone who processes it is bound to keep it confidential, and keep it secure with the measures described in our privacy policy;
    • use other processors only for hosting, storage, sign-in, payments, email and translation, under written terms that protect the data at least as well as these. You authorise this; a list is available on request, and we will tell you before we add or replace one so you can object;
    • help you respond to requests from the people the data is about, and to meet your duties on security, breach notification and impact assessments;
    • tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a personal data breach affecting your clients' data;
    • delete the files automatically 7 days after delivery, or sooner if you delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them; and
    • give you the information you need to show that these duties are met, and allow reasonable audits for that purpose.
    The data is personal details found in identity, civil status, financial and similar documents (which may include special category data) about your clients and the people named in their documents. You confirm you have a lawful basis to give it to us for translation.
  • We may close a translator account for misuse, misleading claims or unpaid charges. Unused purchased credits are refunded if we close an account without a breach on your part.

10. Changes and law

We may update these terms and will post changes here. The terms in force when you place an order apply to that order. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you can bring a claim where you live.

For help with an order, email support@diava.co.uk. For partnerships, email partner@diava.co.uk. For anything about your personal data, email dpo@diava.co.uk. Our postal address is our registered office, above.
