Your national ID card, translated in full

We translate national identity cards from any language into English (or another language you choose): your name, date and place of birth, ID number, issue and expiry dates, and both sides of the card. The translation follows the layout of your original, so it is easy to compare line by line.

Photograph both sides of the card flat and in good light. Both sides are translated.

What the Home Office asks for, and what you get

The Home Office guidance says documents that are not in English or Welsh need a translation that can be checked. It should include:

  • confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original document
  • the date of the translation
  • the full name and signature of the translator, or of an authorised official of the translation company
  • the translator's or translation company's contact details and, for applications made in the UK, their credentials
  • for applications made outside the UK, a translation the Home Office can verify

Every Diava PDF ends with a certificate of translation that covers each of these. It is signed by an authorised official of Mr Computer EdTech Ltd (trading as Diava), a translation company registered in England and Wales, and carries a reference anyone can check at diava.co.uk/verify. A bilingual reviewer you choose also signs a statement that goes on the PDF. See an example →

No visa office approves translation companies in advance, so nobody can honestly promise a translation is "approved by the Home Office". Some other countries need a sworn or notarised translation: check what your application asks for.

How it works

  1. UploadAdd a photo or PDF of each document. You see the number of pages and the exact price straight away, and a free preview of the first page.
  2. Pay once£3.99 a page, whatever the document. Translation starts as soon as you pay and takes minutes, not days.
  3. Check, sign, downloadYour reviewer checks the translation next to the original and signs. Then download each PDF, with the certificate and a copy of the original pages.

Questions

Is a Diava national ID card translation accepted for a UK visa?

Every PDF comes with a certificate of translation that includes everything the Home Office guidance asks for: confirmation of accuracy, the date, the full name and signature of an authorised official, our contact details and credentials, and a reference the Home Office can verify. We can't promise any decision, because no visa office approves translation companies in advance.

What is translated on a national ID card?

Everything on it: your name, date and place of birth, ID number, issue and expiry dates, and both sides of the card. Stamps, seals and signatures are described in square brackets where they appear.

How much does it cost?

£3.99 a page, for any document and any language. You see the exact total for your whole order before you pay.

How long does it take?

Most documents are translated a few minutes after payment. Then your reviewer checks it and you download the PDF straight away.

What happens to my documents?

They are encrypted and deleted automatically 90 days after delivery, or straight away if you delete them. They are never used to train AI and never sold.
